I grew up in small-town Alabama
during the 1970s and I’ve seen with
my own eyes what hateful prejudice is
- not in my grandparents’ lifetime or
my parents’, but in my lifetime. That’s
why, while watching the election
results, tears started to flow.
The tears flowed for a lot of us
Election Night…  I have never been
more proud of my country and us as a
people. We stepped up and proved to
ourselves and to the world that we are
an exceptional country comprised of
people who genuinely care.
I’m an industrial artist and theatrical
designer by trade focusing on large-
scale installations, but lately I’ve been
working in smaller formats.  As I
watched the election results in my
studio, I realized I was witnessing an
incredibly powerful and profound
moment in our nation’s history. I
needed to make something for myself
to remember this moment and these
feelings, so I went to work.
    Utilizing the highest quality
architectural glass available, I
Mike Martin
preserved the feelings of this moment
forever creating a beautiful work of art
not only for myself, but for anyone who
has been equally touched by this
poignant event.  As I showed this to
friends and family, I witnessed them
being touched and moved in ways I
never expected, bringing tears again
to their eyes…
